My uncle invited me to attend a Native American dedication of the new Veteran's Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington. Through his words and songs, he honored all veterans and paid respect to the ancestors. My daughters also attended the event; I wanted them to understand the importance of our history and the sacrifices made by those who went before.
Those who attended were deeply moved by my uncle's words. By the end, some of the older vets had tears in their eyes.
Tribal councilman Glenn Ford addressed the group.
My uncle led us in singing several honor songs.
