Technicolor

Edward Dakota is now performing the role of Simeon in Spokane Civic Theater's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Some years ago, he played a minor role in the CYT version of Joseph as Pharaoh's butler, and his current role includes a vocal solo: Those Canaan Days. Our family saw the dress rehearsal a few days ago, and they all did an amazing job. Tickets are still available at the Civic.

Last Friday, the Spokesman-Review published a short piece about the play that included Dakota's name and photograph.

Mom

My mom celebrated her birthday at a small family gathering, mostly with her children and grandchildren. But we're all scattered, so not everyone got to be present. Even so, it was a happy occasion, enjoyed by all.

Grandma Alice and my daughter Whitney represent the oldest and the youngest of my direct lineage, separated by seventy-three years.

The End of Hairspray

CCT's production of Hairspray has ended. On the one hand, I am relieved to have my schedule free of rehearsals, but I do miss the friendships and the energy of the stage. It was such a positive experience that I won't soon forget. In any case, I am posting some of my favorite backstage pictures, in no particular order.

Looking forward to Christian Community Theater next summer.

Link - From the Show

During CCT's production of Hairspray, I took more than 700 photographs, including this series of Josh Taylor re-enacting his line, "My name is Link, from the show." I did some experimenting and created a moving GIF using Gimp - the effect was pretty funny.

Wedding Reception

Just a few more pictures from my sister's wedding and reception at the Glover Mansion last Sunday. Here they are cutting the cake.

Rhonda, my mom, and Whitney - beautiful ladies.

The grandmas - Alice and Gene.

Mr. Pinky & the Pinkettes

Friday was the opening night of Hairspray - which was wonderful! The audience was enthusiastic, making our performance even more enjoyable. The energy of the stage reminded me why I loved theater all those years ago, when I did Bye Bye Birdie or Lil' Abner. In this photograph, Rhonda and I posed in our costume from Welcome to the Sixties. I was dressed as "Mr. Pinky" and Rhonda as one of the "Pinkettes."

Christian Community Theater is presenting the Broadway musical Hairspray at the Bing Crosby Theater. We had our first show this evening, and it was wonderful! We still have two shows tomorrow, a show next Friday, and two next Saturday. For tickets:

Usually, I am behind the camera, but this time I am in the show. I had to get pictures of the cast from behind the scenes. Click on any image to enlarge.
