After hearing my stories for the last five or six years, my friend Tim finally got to experience gathering moss.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sun was shining brightly in the sky and the air was about 65 degrees. We couldn't ask for a better day. Right away we found the perfect moss tree with long strands of moss hanging from low, dead branches. We simply had to knock the branches to the ground with a long stick. Of course, the long strands are ideal because they're relatively easy to clean.
In the picture above, Tim is holding a branch with long strands of black moss. The branch also has bright yellow wolf lichen that is sometimes used for a yellow dye.
As always, we had a wonderful time sharing stories and exchanging knowledge regarding traditional skills.
At the end of the day,
we got to witness
a beautiful sunset
in the clear sky.
