May he find safe and swift travels to the other world, unfettered by the cares of mortality. May the loved ones who went before arrive to meet him on the way and make his crossing light.

Thanks to my Auntie Mary Ann Rima for the picture.

Barry, this post is great writing. You have expressed in words what I often think about concerning my native family and how to relate my expiriences to other people. Robert

Thanks Robert.

This reminds me of an experiences I've had time and time again with my Native relatives. I meet people who knew my father, or even my grandfather, and they throw their arms around me like a long lost son. Or sometimes I meet people who knew me as a baby and welcome me back as if no time had passed at all. The sense of connection and community is powerful among Indian people.

Even though we aren't from the same family bloodline, I felt a similar connection with YOU.

Barry, looking at your post brings back memories and makes me think about family that I haven't seen in years. Especially one cousin that I did not meet until I was 21. When we did finally meet it only took a matter of minutes for us to find about a dozen things we had in common. Just like you instantly I had a connection. The Indian world is great that way. Robert
