Santiago

On Sunday afternoon, we took a bus to the nearby town of Atuntaqui where Santiago and his family received us with much kindness. Soon after we arrived, Santiago insisted on performing a special song on several instruments. When he had visited the Spokane Reservation last spring, he learned a song in the sweathouse and transcribed it into written notes. He's sort of a musical genius, if you ask me. He played the song on the trumpet, the guitar, and the accordion. He did a wonderful job, but I have to admit that a sweathouse song loses something in the translation. We laughed a little, but he took it in good faith.
