Vivid

My dreams have been lost in a fog these last few weeks. When I finally fall asleep, the dreams appear as usual, but then pass quickly into the darkness. Such a numbing forgetfulness settled over me, and considering the importance of dreams, I felt somewhat lost.

But within the last three days the dreams suddenly re-emerged in brilliant color, and now my life feels purposeful and vivid once again.

I've been over to your other blog that lists of teh couples' retreats. I was just wondering if you and your's have seen Fireproof the new Kirk Cameron movie about marriage. I just picked up a copy yesterday. The acting is just OK in parts, but the movie is great. My hubby and I really enjoyed it.

Hi Jen, thanks for checking in, as always. I'm not a big Kirk Cameron fan, but my wife likes him. We might check out the movie you suggest before our next couple's retreat. Thanks for the tip.

I am trying to get rid of the vivid. I am taking a medication, which has a side effect of vivid dreams. I enjoy dreaming and normally have vivid dreams without medication. When I was younger, I used to be able to control my dreams. I remember one dream when I was younger I was convinced if I grabbed on to something in my dream I could bring it back into the waking world. So one night I dreamt of a store and I filled my cart up with all sorts of fun things, toys, candy, etc. I then told myself to grab the shopping cart handle, close my eyes, and wake up. As you can imagine I was quite disappointed when I awoke empty handed. On a side note-I do not understand why I tell myself to close my eyes when I want to wake up but this is just what I do in my dreams. Do you use the same strategy to wake up? I no longer have control over my dreams and these new meds make nightmares especially vivid. Nevertheless, I guess I would prefer to have vivid dreams than no dreams at all.

Wow 'Chelle! Sounds wonderful. Why would you want to shut it off?

You never told me about having lucid dreams. If you could bring that back, just think of all the good you could do.
